SERVICES and PRICES All sessions are conducted in your home*.  Checks or cash accepted.  Sorry, no credit cards except for deposit payment.   TRAVEL FEE  $1 per mile, one way.  Please estimate using Google Maps from the corner of Westminster Blvd. and Erford Rd. in Camp Hill to your home.  INITIAL CONSULTATION & EVALUATION  ($120 + travel fee, up to 1.5 hours) At the first appointment, I will listen to your concerns, observe and interact with your dog, diagnose problems, help you set realistic goals, and propose a customized training plan.  You will discover how your dog learns and sees his world (it may not be how you think).  It is important to correctly understand why he does the things he does.  You will learn how to better communicate with him so he becomes a willing partner.  Without this fundamental understanding of how the canine mind works, a dog owner could go on a never-ending quest for the "secret to dog training" (a commonly used marketing technique). Every dog, like every child, is different.  Although I could give you common tips for dealing with typical behavior problems, your dog might respond differently to "cookie cutter" methods found in the media than your neighbor's dog.  That is why my goal is to teach you problem-solving skills grounded in current behavioral science.  We will, of course, brainstorm ideas for quick relief from annoying behaviors because I understand that you may be "at the end of your rope". Discounted Packages (3 or more sessions):  An Initial Consultation & Evaluation is necessary to determine whether multiple sessions are required to successfully address your training needs.  If appropriate, a discounted package will be proposed at the conclusion of the initial evaluation.  Full payment is due at the start of the package to qualify for the discounted rate.  I will guide you step-by-step in forming and implementing your dog's custom behavior modification plan.  You will build on the skills you learned in the initial consultation. We will monitor your dog's progress so that you have concrete evidence that your dog is improving.  You also have the option of having segments of the training sessions videotaped free of charge to aid in refreshing your memory when our time together is over.  You are encouraged to contact me between appointments if you have any questions or concerns rather than waiting until the next appointment to bring them up.  Practicing between sessions is vital for best results. There are no magical cures, contrary to what you might see on TV.  However, you will quickly notice improvement in your dog's behavior using the right approach.  Your commitment to the training program is the most important predictor of success.  Most behavior problems can be eliminated with appropriate intervention regardless of your dog's age. PHONE CONSULTATIONS  (not for aggression problems) In certain situations (such as when a client lives outside of my service area or an in-home visit is not necessary), a phone consultation may be appropriate.  This is determined on a case by case basis considering what is best for your dog.  If a phone consultation is approved, you will be required to submit video footage of your dog's behavior.  (Most behavior problems are best addressed by an in-home consultation.)
